Curiosity
The cat is on its deathbed
He is not the proverbial one
killed by curiosity
This one is quite the opposite
Yes, there was another, a brother -
since We never asked - we never knew
Blue eyes not green
Coat not intriguing black but
plainest white we’ve ever seen.
He learnt his lesson
from the fate of his twin -
To lessen the questions
And put his head down
For healthy life, soft skin
and lush fur
Food came with no effort
litter box was fairly clean
A regular supply of loving scratches
always available, under the chin
No need to jump from fences
to sheds to trees, just
stretch and yawn, same spot
on the grass all day
No urge to dig around the plants
No crouching, no pouncing
No chasing little critters
Calm and composed it stared
at the walls - as if keeping watch
If the sights change
No fights, growling and hissing
At the feline frenemies
lost in itself, in haze of dreamy laziness
it spent its seasons
Now, The last of its Soft meows
have been meowed
And a sad boring death -
slowly descends on
what turned out to be a
a sad boring life.
